Resin Transfer Mold – Same-Qualified Resin Transfer Molding
Resin Transfer Molds (RTM) are one of the most unique and complex tools used to mold composite complex aerospace structures. Using internal, removable mandrels allows internal ribbing and superstructure to be molded complete inside the part. While this adds not only inherent strength as a monolithic design, it also reduces the number of pieces, bonding seams and riveting and assembly.
Design considerations: Part shape allowing removal of mandrels. Complex integral structure to reduce weight, material selection, tool coatings, price.
